Goal Setting: Helping to Realize Your Vision

I started this year with a goal to be more fit, strong, and leaner. It’s been a challenging goal and 10 months into this year I finally feel like I am on the right track.

This blog isn’t about my health goals it is about how having a vision and a goal helps to achieve your desires. It doesn’t matter what your ambitions are its about the journey to get to the end result.

My top of mind goal right now is physical. Over the years I have had dreams to increase my social life, find more peace, enjoy life, to live more abundantly, find a loving partner. I’ve had very specific goals for money and business opportunities.

Setting goals is like plotting a course on a map; it provides a direction, purpose, and a clear vision for the future. Goal setting is a powerful tool to turn aspirations into reality. Whatever your desire, dream, or vision one way to propel yourself forward is by setting a goal and measuring the results.

I like to think of goals as an acronym:

G - Great each day with your goal in mind. Every day you get to choose your thoughts. Make

them good ones!

O - be Open to the opportunities that present themselves. The Universe always provides!

So find ways to recognize the subtle and blatant messages, signs, and moments that show

up during your day.

A - Allow the magic! Yep, magic is real. Let miracles happen.

L - Love yourself through the process even when it seems impossible. Think about how you are

treating yourself. Are you going to give yourself grace or shame. You choose.

S - Stay the course even when you have to pivot. There is no direct way to anywhere. Even “as

the crow flies” has course adjustments.

Whether your goal is short-term or long-term, goals offer a sense of purpose and direction. When our energy is focused we naturally attract the resources and guidance to effectively attain what we are seeking. Another thing, what we desire, ask for, and see around us we will receive. There is a saying “What you focus on expands.” Whether we want a healthier body, more friends, or if we are focused on what we don’t want, it will get realized.

The process of the goal is often more important than the final results. The saying “it’s the journey not the destination” is vital to understand that growth happens while we are on our way.
